Experience A Release of Peace

Experiencing peace…or joy isn’t really that complicated.  There’s no sure fire formula.  But there is a sure way to enhance the calming effect of peace (or joy) in your life.

The picture in this post is from the story of Gideon found in Judges 6 (Old Testament).  This image is found toward the end of the story. (The story gives us an important clue to personal peace).

Gideon Was Hiding

At the beginning, Gideon (the least important guy from the smallest tribe) was originally encountered by the angel of the Lord as Gideon was hiding in terror.  It’s understandable.  The enemy (Midianites) were ugly with a capitol “U”.
They literally stripped the skin off their captives.  They also burned everything in their path to the ground.

God Found Gideon

The angel of the Lord (on God’s business) found Gideon trembling in his “hidey-hole” and spoke these words, “Gideon, Mighty Man of Valor!”  Those words sparked something in Gideon.  The end result was a great victory.
But, what does that have to do with me experiencing peace?

We Experience Peace When We See Through God’s Eyes

A great deal of the unrest in our own mind and emotions is based on how we are seeing those around us.  We get discouraged and fearful as we look at their apparent lacks.  We lock them into our own perception of reality.

A Word From God

I was conversing with someone recently who was very frustrated because they couldn’t see past the lacks in the life of someone they cared a great deal about.  As we were talking, I heard the Lord speak into my heart these words, “Look for the Mighty Man of Valor.”

Look For The Mighty Man of Valor

I relayed the message (which brought the reaction of tears of understanding).  As I did so, I knew it was a message that was applicable and life giving on a larger scale.  That’s why I share it here.

We will experience peace as we practice asking the Holy Spirit to show us that other person through His eyes…and then look for The Mighty Man of Valor that God sees beneath all the surface clutter.

Look for the “mighty man of valor” in others and you’ll find him/her!
