To tell you the truth, it – in a way – strikes fairly close to home. I really do enjoy the speed with which I can research just about any subject I care to via my computer and the internet. But, that’s not actually what’s on my mind for today.
My question…THE question I often pose for myself is this:
“Is My Life Being Lived At This Moment
For Jesus or From Jesus?”
“Is The Life I’m Living, My Attempt To Do Service For Him…or…
Is The Service I Render From The Energy and Inspiration of His Life In Me?
It sounds spiritual and responsible to be living our lives for Jesus. The problem with that is the fact that we often “make sandwiches” for Him that He didn’t order! And we do it only to the extent of our human capacity to perform.
I don’t know about you, but so many times I try…really try…to do something good for God…instead of follow His leading, power, and wisdom…somehow – at the end of the day – I screw up! It may look good but be like cotton candy. It tastes good for the moment but has no lasting food value.
The good news is that a Godly life always works when we live it from His life. The life that is totally paid for and on deposit within us.
The mental list you have that describes what you should look like if you are truly serving and pleasing God….you know the one.
Then…cuz this is important…there needs to be a then…
Then…learn with me (which will include trial and error) how to respond to the “internal impulses” of life. They are described in Galatians 5:22, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control…”
These qualities are already within you. They are the fruit of the Spirit. Not the fruit of self-effort.
Learn to pay attention and focus in on sensing how Christ in you is responding to whatever is in front of you. Jump on His “bandwagon.” It will take you where you want to go.
